May 22 – A colt from the first crop by Grade 1 winner I Want Revenge was hammered down for $245,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Old in Training sale.
Rising trainer Joe Sharp signed the ticket as agent for Grand Oaks. The colt was consigned by Pick View LLC, who secured the dark bay for $50,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale. He hails from the immediate family of Mine that Bird and Dullahan, both Grade 1 winners in recent years.
“When we saw him at the yearling sale, we knew we couldn’t go home without him,” said consignor Joe Pickerell. “We would have really regretted it if we hadn’t brought him home. And he has just been the top of the class the whole year.”
I Want Revenge ran second, beaten a nose to Pioneerof the Nile, in the 2008 CashCall Futurity (G1) before achieving top-level success racing the colors of a partnership headed by IEAH Stables. The private purchase deal was brokered by Sallusto & Albina bloodstock agency. In his three-year-old season I Want Revenge posted dominant wins in the Gotham S. (G3) and Wood Memorial (G1), performances that made him morning line favorite for the 2009 Kentucky Derby.
I Want Revenge stands at Millennium Farms in Central Kentucky.
