Nick Sallusto was born and raised in New York. The son of a trainer, he spent the summers and weekends of his youth around his father’s stable, developing a profound connection to the thoroughbred. After graduating from Stony Brook University, Nick joined his family in building Vita Flex into a nationally recognized leader in the equine nutrition segment. Simultaneously, he developed two other equine industry companies, including his own brand of equine apparel, Mill Crossing.
Throughout this period Nick maintained his connection to the horses while owning and managing a personal stable. At age 31, he divested his Vita Flex and Mill Crossing holdings to reenter the thoroughbred business full time as a bloodstock agent.
He quickly reached the pinnacle of the sport by purchasing some of the most recognizable equine stars this century. Among them: 2008 Kentucky Derby & Preakness Stakes winner (and Eclipse Award Champion) Big Brown, Breeders’ Cup Mile hero Kip Deville as well as Eclipse Award Champion Sprinter Benny the Bull.

Together they offer a full range of bloodstock services. Among the Sallusto & Albina success stories are the unbeaten multiple graded stakes winner Kantharos and the Grade 1-winning Violence. Both are now exciting young stallions standing in Kentucky. In total Nick has purchased over 60 stakes horses more than 20 of whom later developed into Grade 1 performers.
