In his second career start, Rule the Nile scored a sharp Maiden Special victory on the December 11 card at Zia Park.
The two-year-old gelding was rated near the back of the pack in the early stages by rider Alfredo Juarez, Jr. before pouncing at the top of the stretch. He raced greenly down the lane and prevailed by a measured head a the wire of the 6 1/2 furlong contest.
A son of WinStar Farm’s Pioneerof the Nile, Rule the Nile was bred and raised by Sallusto & Albina bloodstock agents for longtime client Newton Anner Stud. He’s out of the King of Kings (Ire) daughter Esher and was sold for $90,000 at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale. Crane Thoroughbreds signed the ticket and later resold the horse for $90,000 at this year’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Old in Training sale.
Rule the Nile is the second Newton Anner bred Maiden winner in in just over a month after $800,000 yearling Moondance, a Maiden Special hero in New York on November 9.
