August 9 – Sallusto & Albina success at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale continued on night two with a filly by the late City Zip bringing $325,000.
The attractive chestnut sold as Hip 187 and was purchased for over eight times City Zip’s 2015 stud fee by Solis/Litt.
She’s out of the Distorted Humor daughter Force of Humor, who hails from a deep female line developed by Edward P. Evans. Force of Humor is a sister to the dam of Evans’ Grade 1 Personal Ensign S. winner Summer Colony. She was purchased by Newton Anner for $300,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Hip 187’s price tag was the highest among the three City Zip yearlings in the sale.
“She’s a City Zip and they won’t be making any more of them,” said consignor Ron Blake about her sire who passed away in July. “She’s got a good physical, very well ballanced, and a great walk.”
The night before, another filly bred and raised by Sallusto & Albina for Newton Anner made headlines. Hip 34, a daughter of Curlin, was hammered down to Juddmonte Farm for $750,000 making her the highest-priced filly of the opening session.
