Saturday Thoroughbred Runners

Five More Saturday Stakes Runners

One week after Sallusto & Albina private purchases contested five graded stakes (placing in three), another quintet of horses acquired by the premier bloodstock agents are set to compete in Saturday stakes races across North America on June 17.

$100,000 Salvator Mile H. (G3) at Monmouth Park
A pair of Sallusto & Albina bloodstock agent purchases make their 2017 debut in this Monmouth Park fixture:

Sallusto & Albina yearling purchase Far From Over burst on to the Kentucky Derby scene last February with an impossible victory in the Withers S. (G3) after a major gate stumble. The 2013 Keeneland September yearling buy breaks from post 8 for trainer Todd Pletcher and rider Chris DeCarlo. He races in the colors of Black Rock Thoroughbreds, Madaket Stables and James Covello.

Private purchase Majestic Affair leaves from gate two in the Salvator Mile. He hails from the Chad Brown barn and is coming off a 2016 campaign in which he won the Jazil S. in New York and placed in a pair of graded features. During his three-year-old season in 2015 he conquered two additional stakes for owners Thomas Coleman, Doheny Racing Stable and Madaket Stables. Sallusto & Albina bloodstock agents brokered the deal for Majestic Affair after he turned heads in his debut maiden victory at Canterbury Downs in July of 2014.

$50,000 Ky Alta S. at Northlands Park
Trooper John goes for his third straight stakes score in the Saturday co-feature at Northlands. Nick and Hanzly purchased the son of Colonel John for long-time client Riversddge Racing Stables and help manage the talented gelding’s racing career. Trained by Tim Rycroft, Trooper John concluded his stellar 2016 juvenile season with triumphs in the Winnipeg Futurity and Canadian Juvenile S. He sped a victory in the May 27 Western Canada H. to kick off his 2017 campaign.

$50,000 Spangled Jimmy H. at Northlands Park
Hold the Giant, another Riversedge Racing runner, was also a juvenile stakes winner in 2016, having captured the Edmonton Juvenile. He will seek to improve off his 2017 debut, a runner-up finish in the May 27 Journal H. Sallusto & Albina bloodstock agents signed the ticket for the son of Hold Me Back at the 2014 OBS August Yearling auction and advise on his racing schedule as well.

$100,000 Soldier’s Dancer S. at Gulfstream Park
Entered as a ‘main track only’ participant, Royal Squeeze will need some assistance from mother nature to draw in to the grassy Soldier’s Dancer. But he’ll be a major player if he does. He’s already a two-time stakes winner over the Gulfstream Park main oval, including a sharp score in his seasonal debut, the April 30 Jeblar S. The flashy son of Wildcat Heir was selected by Sallusto & Albina out of the 2014 OBS March Two-Year-Old in Training sale.
