Pleased Proves Much the Best in Debut Victory


May 7 – Pleased, a Sallusto & Albina two-year-old purchase, debuted with an impressive score in one-mile Maiden Special contest at Gulfstream Park.

After breaking inward, Pleased chased favored Bixby Lou through solid early fractions of :23.04, :45.78 and 1:10. Under strong handling by jockey Edgard Zayas, Pleased pounced on her rival at the head of the lane and surged past with an eighth of a mile to go. She crossed the wire geared down with a 4 3/4-length advantage, stopping the timer in 1:36.20.

Pleased was a $350,000 Sallusto & Albina buy at least year’s Fasig-Tipton Florida sale. She’s a daughter of the top sire Bernardini out of Grade 1 winner Cindy’s Hero, also the dam of multiple graded winner Delegation. The now three-year-old miss races in the colors of Newton Anner Stud.

Trained by two-time Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Todd Pletcher, Pleased entered her debut off a series of strong works at Palm Beach Downs, including a bullet half-mile two weeks before her afternoon unveiling.
