June 14 – Bob Baffert signed the $130,000 ticket for a filly by Violence at the OBS June sale bringing the total of six-figure juveniles by the young Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms stallion to 22. No other 2017 first crop sire has more.
The filly sold as Hip #306 and is out of the stakes-winning Peace Rules mare Rules R Rules. She impressed in her June 8 breeze, zipping a 1/4 mile in :10 flat.
Violence has had big sellers throughout the juvenile sales season, including 11 $100,000 + two-year-olds at the OBS April auction and two more at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic in May. There was also a $277,000 Violence colt at Tattersalls Craven, the most prestious two-year-old sale in Europe. All told 22 Violence two-year-olds brought $100,00 or more in 2017.
Violence was purhased as a yearling by the Sallusto & Albina thoroughbred agents and went on to Grade 1 success in the CashCall Futurity. The son of Medaglia d’Oro has been one of the most popular young stallions in Kentucky since his retirement and he’s the first sire in his crop with a Stakes winner, Kentucky Juvenile S. winner Buy Sell Hold.
